Job Description and Duties

Under the direction of the Crime Analyst Supervisor (CA Sup), the CA II acts in a lead capacity for the unsealing and destruction process associated with sealed records within the Automated Criminal History System (ACHS). The CA II serves as a subject matter expert on the entire arrest and disposition lifecycle, which includes a broad perspective on maintaining the criminal history repository associated with manual and electronic collection of data. The CA II resolves the most complex criminal history analysis issues specific to requests to unseal and destroy records. The CA II provides direction and assistance to staff on workload processes, conducts research, and may communicate directly with law enforcement and other government agencies.

Working Conditions

This position is designated for telework under Government Code section 14200 for eligible applicants residing in California and may require reporting to headquarters or field offices and facilities to fulfill operational needs. All telework schedules are subject to change and may be reevaluated at any time. Telework does not change the terms and conditions of employment, the essential functions of job duties, or required compliance with the Department of Justice policies.

This position is eligible for telework, and will be required to report to the office as needed/required. The successful candidate must reside in California upon appointment.

Special Requirements

This is a 12 month limited term position, but may be extended to a maximum of 24 months and/or may become a permanent position based upon operational needs.

-Accurately interpret and apply penal code (PC) statutes and case law, as well as policies and procedures

-Strong knowledge of the criminal justice process and experience with criminal history information

-Ability to maintain confidentiality on sensitive issues, work cooperatively as a team, and maintain professional relationships with department staff

-Be a self-starter, dependable, and have excellent attendance

- Ability to exercise good judgment, and act with flexibility and diplomacy

-Ability to develop and deliver training
